Per Republic Act No. 10533, Lara Elementary School has adopted the K-12 academic system where students are required to attend kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school to complete the national basic education course. This was signed into law by President Benigno C. Aquino III in 2012 and is now practiced nationwide. The objective is to provide learners with more years of academics and practical learning to better prepare them for joining the Philippine workforce.
We place special emphasis on the following areas of study due to their value later on in life:
- Life skills
- Love of country
- Service to fellow men
Our academic system is geared towards allowing students to develop into unique individuals who contribute a diverse set of talents and skills to society as adults. We are believers in multiple intelligences and holistic training to mold what society can consider as model Filipino citizens.
Lara Elementary school uses several methods to measure the level of learning that each student absorbs in every lesson. Like most schools, we utilize quizzes, recitations, quarterly examinations, performances and projects to gauge how much a student has progressed. We calculate grades each quarter and provide a general average at the end of each school year to help parents and other faculty members understand where a child excels and where improvement is required.
SELECTION OF HONORS
The school awards excellent performances from students who attain the following general averages at the end of every school year:
- 98-100 – With Highest Honors
- 95-97 – With High Honors
- 90-94 – With Honors
Special awards are also bestowed upon students who display exemplary abilities in single subjects and extra-curricular activities such as sports, performing arts or civic works.
CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR PROGRAMS
Lara Elementary School promotes the participation of its students in learning activities outside the classroom. These include leadership work, sports, performing arts, visual arts and others.
